Edward the Elder - King of the Anglo-Saxons

Edward the Elder succeeded his father Alfred and continued his military and administrative reforms. With the support of his sister Æthelflæd of Mercia, Edward pushed into Viking-held territory and established new burhs. By the end of his reign, most of southern and central England recognised his authority, making full unification possible.
